Manchester City has finalized the signing of Carlotta Wamser from Bayer Leverkusen on a four-year deal, bolstering their squad ahead of the new season.

The 22-year-old Germany international, who can excel as both a left-back and right-back, joined Leverkusen from Eintracht Frankfurt on a free transfer in July 2025. Wamser becomes City’s third signing of the summer, following the arrivals of defender Niamh Charles from Chelsea and forward Beth Mead from Arsenal.

With Charles and other key players such as Grace Clinton, Vivianne Miedema, Jade Rose, and Laura Wienroither sidelined due to injuries, Wamser's addition is a significant boost for the WSL champions as they prepare to defend their title against Birmingham City this Sunday.

Wamser has earned 14 international caps and was part of the Germany Under-17 team that triumphed in the European Championship in 2019. Expressing her excitement, Wamser stated, "I had a perfect welcome here and I already feel very good here and I look forward to my time here in Manchester."

She emphasized the prestige of the English league, stating, "The English league is the best league in the world and Manchester City is one of the best clubs in the world. I feel like I need the next step for my career and I feel that I can develop as a player here."

City's director of football, Therese Sjogran, expressed enthusiasm about Wamser's arrival, highlighting her energy, passion, and eagerness to learn. "For such a young, exciting talent to trust us with the next step of her career is something we feel conveys a strong message of what we are building here."
