Florian Wirtz has drawn mixed reviews during his time at Liverpool, particularly in light of his impressive performances at Bayer Leverkusen. Critics have pointed out that while his potential is undeniable, he has struggled to replicate that form in the Premier League, especially after a hefty transfer fee reaching £116 million.

In a recent Champions League match against LASK, Wirtz showcased his talents, delivering a dominant performance. However, his lackluster display in the preceding match against Manchester City, where he failed to make an impact, has raised concerns about his ability to thrive under pressure.

The primary challenges appear to stem from the physicality and intensity of the Premier League. Andoni Iraola, Liverpool's head coach, has defended Wirtz, suggesting that the issue is not merely about the competition but the nature of different games. This season, Wirtz's passing accuracy stands at 80% in the Premier League compared to 91.5% in the Champions League, highlighting a disparity in his performance.

Tactically, Wirtz was envisioned as a central creative force, but the lack of a cohesive strategy under previous management has hindered his development. Although he has shown promise, he requires a more stable partnership with teammates like Alexander Isak and Bradley Barcola to unlock his full potential.

Wirtz's success in the Bundesliga attests to his capabilities, where he was often viewed as one of the league's top players. His performances for Germany have also indicated that he still possesses the talent necessary to excel.

Ultimately, while Wirtz has not yet found his footing at Liverpool, the combination of tactical adjustments, support from the coaching staff, and improved partnerships on the field could pave the way for a resurgence. The upcoming matches will be crucial in determining whether Wirtz can solidify his place in the team or continue to be seen as a luxury player.
