Ethan Nwaneri’s loan spell at Marseille has hit a rocky patch as manager Habib Beye criticized the young star's work ethic. The Arsenal prospect, who joined the Ligue 1 club in January, initially impressed under former coach Roberto De Zerbi, scoring on his debut against Lens.

However, following De Zerbi's departure to Tottenham, Nwaneri's playing time has dwindled. He has not started any of the last 11 matches and was an unused substitute during Marseille's recent 1-1 draw against Nice.

When asked about Nwaneri's need for more game time, Beye stated, "He’s a quality player, but he has to give us way more in his day-to-day commitment. Other players gave way more."

Nwaneri, who enjoyed a successful 2024-25 campaign with Arsenal, scoring nine goals in 37 appearances, previously made headlines as the youngest player in Premier League history, debuting at just 15 years and 181 days.

Despite his potential, the England U21 international has struggled to make a significant impact during his loan, tallying two goals and one assist in nine league appearances. Nwaneri's transition to Marseille was aimed at securing more minutes, but his performance has not met expectations, leaving questions about his future at the club.
