To ensure that their home games remain a true Philadelphia affair, the 76ers announced a restriction on ticket sales, allowing purchases only from fans residing in the greater Philadelphia area. Tickets bought by those outside this region will be canceled, a move reminiscent of their strategy in 2024, where the ownership group purchased over 2,000 tickets to keep them from Knicks fans during a playoff encounter.

Joel Embiid, the Sixers' superstar, emphasized the importance of local support following their Game 7 victory. He urged fans not to sell their tickets, stating:

Last time we played the Knicks, it felt like this was Madison Square Garden East. We need the support, don't sell your tickets. This is bigger than you.

Embiid acknowledged the traveling strength of Knicks fans, warning that even a 70-30 split in attendance could occur if locals sell their tickets for profit. He offered financial assistance to fans in need, reinforcing the call for a loud home crowd.

In contrast, Knicks guard Josh Hart expressed confidence in their fans' persistence, noting that New Yorkers will find ways to attend regardless of restrictions, especially if they can secure tickets at a good price.

This tactic by the 76ers mirrors actions taken by other teams, such as the Detroit Pistons, who used geo-fencing during the 2024 playoffs to limit ticket sales to local fans. However, as Hart pointed out, such restrictions may not be fully effective due to secondary market sales, allowing dedicated Knicks fans to still make their presence felt.
