Silverstone will welcome a round of the World Endurance Championship in 2027, featuring an exciting six-hour race slated as the ninth event on the WEC calendar. Scheduled from April 23-25, this race adds to a roster that includes the iconic Le Mans 24 Hours.

The WEC has seen a resurgence in popularity since the introduction of hypercar regulations in 2021, attracting major manufacturers like Ferrari, Peugeot, Alpine, BMW, Toyota, Genesis, Cadillac, and Aston Martin.

The 5.891km Silverstone track is favored by both drivers and fans for its fast, sweeping corners, promising to be a formidable challenge for competitors. The event will also feature showroom-style LMGT3 cars.

Frederic Lequien, CEO of WEC, emphasized Silverstone's rich motorsport history:

Silverstone is a venue steeped in motorsport history and boasts a long legacy of top-flight endurance racing, including eight hugely successful FIA WEC events from 2012 to 2019.

The WEC calendar will also include races in Qatar (Lusail), Italy (Imola), Belgium (Spa), Brazil (Sao Paulo), the United States (Circuit of the Americas), Japan (Fuji), and Bahrain (Sakhir).

Notably, Ford and McLaren will join the hypercar category next year, reviving their historic rivalry with Ferrari. Former F1 drivers, including Robert Kubica, who won last year's Le Mans, continue to enrich the series, while Max Verstappen is rumored to be interested in competing at Le Mans in the future.

This year's Le Mans 24 Hours will start at 15:00 BST on Saturday in northwest France.
