English brothers Matt and Alex Fitzpatrick showcased their exceptional skills by carding the round of the day at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. With a stellar seven-under 65, they moved to just one shot off the lead, currently held by American duo Alex Smalley and Hayden Springer, who sit at 16 under after two rounds.

The tournament unfolds over four rounds at TPC Louisiana, featuring teams of two alternating between:

• Four-ball (best ball) in the first and third rounds
• Foursomes (alternate shot) in the second and fourth rounds

After an opening round of 64, the Fitzpatricks found themselves six shots behind the overnight leaders. However, they turned the tide with an impressive performance, scoring an eagle and six birdies while only dropping one shot to climb the leaderboard.

Matt Fitzpatrick has recently ascended to number three in the world rankings, bolstered by two victories on the PGA Tour this season. The 31-year-old from Sheffield triumphed at the Valspar Championship in March and outlasted world number one Scottie Scheffler in a play-off to clinch the RBC Heritage just last weekend.

In tandem, his younger brother Alex Fitzpatrick, 27, celebrated his first career title on the DP World Tour in March at the Hero Indian Open.
