Youri Tielemans officially joined Manchester United last month after a long-standing interest from the club. The transfer, valued at £35m, came after a stalled deal for Brazilian midfielder Ederson. Tielemans had been linked to United multiple times over the years, including during the summer of 2019, but chose to sign permanently with Leicester City instead.

At a pre-season training camp in County Kildare, Tielemans revealed he had previously engaged in direct talks with United but remained calm when those opportunities did not materialize. He stated, “When a move comes up, then if it needs to happen, it will happen.”

Expressing gratitude towards Aston Villa, he acknowledged the club for helping him regain his best form. However, he emphasized that there are teams above Villa, specifically mentioning Manchester United as a significant step in his career.

Tielemans described his new role under manager Michael Carrick as a deep-lying technician and noted a strong connection with Carrick during their brief conversation. He acknowledged the challenges of adapting to a new style of play but remained optimistic about the transition.

Despite concerns regarding his fitness due to his extensive playing history, Tielemans assured fans he does not feel burned out and is ready for the demands of the season. He remarked, “I just want to be successful, but it is a process.”

As he embarks on this new chapter at Old Trafford, Tielemans is determined to make his mark and contribute to United’s success.
