Warriors fans are buzzing with excitement over Yaxel Lendeborg, who delivered a stunning performance on Sunday, leading the Golden State Warriors to victory against the Los Angeles Clippers despite the absence of Stephen Curry and Draymond Green. Lendeborg scored 37 points in just 34 minutes, shooting an impressive 68% from the field, including six 3-pointers.

In addition to his scoring, the rookie contributed six assists, four rebounds, and a steal. His early career statistics are remarkable, making him the only rookie aside from Larry Bird to achieve over 100 points, 40 rebounds, and 20 assists in his first five games.

Lendeborg's only subpar game came against Luka Dončić, but he rebounded spectacularly, becoming only the fourth rookie to post 37 points and five assists in a single game with an 85% true shooting percentage. This performance marks the highest scoring game by a Warriors rookie since Curry's 42 points in 2010. Lendeborg now averages 22.3 PPG over his first seven games, joining legends Wilt Chamberlain and Rick Barry in this exclusive club.

Reflecting on his previous game, Lendeborg expressed his determination to maintain confidence and joy in his play, reminiscent of his college days. His recent performances have ignited hope in Warriors fans, especially after a rocky start to the season. Coach Steve Kerr noted Lendeborg's impressive skills and ability to impact games, despite still adapting to the NBA pace.

Lendeborg has showcased versatility, playing as the point guard and demonstrating exceptional shooting, particularly from beyond the arc. Kerr acknowledged the evolution in Lendeborg's game, which has revitalized a team many considered past its prime. With the Warriors now on a four-game winning streak, the front office may consider making moves in the trade market, a stark contrast to earlier assumptions of waiting for cap space to open this summer.
