Starting the day three strokes behind overnight leader Viktor Hovland, Scheffler delivered a masterclass in consistency with a four-under 66, the only round under par among the final group.

Scheffler's victory not only adds another title to his impressive resume but also rewards him with a staggering $10 million (£7.4 million). This win places him in an elite group, joining Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy as multiple-time champions of this prestigious event.

Reflecting on his performance, Scheffler stated, "To come from behind and be able to win tournament is a really cool feeling. There were a lot of talented guys in front of me on the leaderboard. I was fortunate to get off to a good start and put myself in the mix."

Hovland struggled on the final day, shooting a two-over 72 to finish in second place, three strokes behind Scheffler. Ryan Gerard, who started just one stroke back, also faltered with a 72, ending in third at -12.

Rory McIlroy had a mixed round with a 69, while Justin Rose made headlines with a hole-in-one, finishing at -7. Alex Fitzpatrick matched Scheffler's round of 66, securing a tie for fourth in his debut at this event, capping off a remarkable season.
