England are viewed as favourites to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup by Norway boss Stale Solbakken, as he shared insights with BBC Sport ahead of their quarter-final match on Saturday at 22:00 BST in Miami.

Solbakken acknowledged England's strong position but noted, "They are favourites, but they're not big, big favourites." He emphasized the unique pressure both teams face, stating, "I think England have more pressure than us. But we also put pressure on our performance. Once the game starts I don't think the players think about the pressure."

Norway boasts a squad filled with Premier League talent, including Arsenal's captain Martin Odegaard and Manchester City forward Erling Haaland, who has netted seven goals in their historic World Cup journey.

The upcoming match is significant for Norway, marking their first World Cup appearance since 1998 and their deepest run in the tournament. Solbakken highlighted the importance of their victories over teams like Brazil, stating, "Brazil and England are maybe the two biggest nations we could meet at this World Cup in terms of history."

The winner will face either Argentina or Switzerland in the semi-finals on Wednesday. Both Haaland and England captain Harry Kane, who has scored six goals, are expected to be pivotal in the match. Solbakken remarked on the importance of teamwork, saying, "It's not a secret that Kane is match-winner number one for England and Erling is match-winner number one for us."

Despite Norway's impressive possession against Brazil, Solbakken tempered expectations, indicating they might not retain the same control against England, especially with the heat affecting their training intensity. He stated, "It's getting hotter. We have trained very lightly... It's all about being fresh for tomorrow."
