Tottenham Hotspur has made a significant move in the Women's Super League by signing Alice Sombath, the France international defender, from Lyon for a club record transfer fee. The exact amount remains undisclosed, and the duration of her contract has not been revealed.

The previous record was held by Signe Gaupset, who joined Tottenham for approximately £375,000 last year. Sombath, just 22 years old, arrives at Tottenham after an impressive five seasons with Lyon, where she made 102 appearances and earned a spot in the France senior squad. Her time at Lyon included winning five consecutive Première Ligue titles and being part of the victorious 2021-22 Women's Champions League team.
