Arsenal has secured the signing of Misa Rodriguez, the Spain goalkeeper, on a free transfer, marking their sixth addition of the summer. The 27-year-old joins the Women's Super League side after parting ways with Real Madrid at the conclusion of last season.

Rodriguez will don the number 16 shirt and will face competition for playing time from Daphne van Domselaar and Anneke Borbe, both of whom had injury struggles last season.

Rodriguez expressed her enthusiasm about joining the club, stating, "I'm so proud to join this great club. Arsenal is one of the top clubs in the world and I'm really excited to be part of the team and take on this new challenge. I want to help us compete for trophies and make more history, together with our supporters."

During her six-year tenure at Real Madrid, Rodriguez made a club-record 215 appearances and was appointed captain last year. Since her senior international debut in 2021, she has earned 34 caps for Spain, including three appearances in their victorious campaign at the 2023 Women's World Cup, although she has recently lost her starting position to Barcelona's Cata Coll.

Arsenal's transfer activity has been notable as they gear up for the 2026-27 Women's Super League season, having also signed Georgia Stanway, Ona Batlle, Selina Cerci, Geraldine Reuteler, and Lisa Baum to bolster Renee Slegers' squad. Last season, Arsenal finished second in the WSL and reached the semi-finals of the Women's Champions League.
