Elisa Balsamo continues her remarkable performance at the Giro d'Italia Women, securing her fourth consecutive sprint victory in as many opportunities. On stage six, she finished ahead of Maggie Coles-Lyster and Georgia Baker.

Balsamo, representing Lidl-Trek, was expertly launched by her teammate Lucinda Brand, overtaking Coles-Lyster with just 50 meters to go after the Canadian initiated a bunch sprint.

The victory solidifies Balsamo's commanding position in the red points classification jersey as the race progresses through its nine stages. In her post-race remarks, she credited Brand, stating, "When you have the best leadout in the world, it's just easy. With Lucinda, everything is much easier because I don't have to fight for position. I just need to trust her, and I know she's the best one. It's more on her than on me, honestly."

In the general classification, Dutch rider Anna van der Breggen retains the overall leader's pink jersey, maintaining a minute lead over compatriot Demi Vollering. On the mostly flat 159km stage from Ala to Brescello, Van der Breggen initially broke into the front group after strong winds disrupted the peloton but was soon caught by the chasing pack.

Vollering, who aims to be only the second female cyclist to win all three Grand Tours, also made a push during the intermediate sprint but ultimately fell behind her rival.

Looking ahead, the race will cover 165km from Sorbolo Mezzani to Salice Terme on a course featuring a single climb, followed by two challenging mountain stages that will conclude this year's event.
