The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that the inaugural Women's Champions Trophy will now take place in India, moving the event from its originally planned location in Sri Lanka. This decision follows ongoing issues with Sri Lanka's national cricket board and government interference, which led to the revocation of their hosting rights.

In a statement, the ICC noted that Sri Lanka Cricket is still working on implementing necessary reforms that were discussed at the ICC's annual conference in July.

While Bangladesh and South Africa expressed interest in hosting the tournament, the ICC board ultimately selected India to replace Sri Lanka. The matches are set to be held in Mumbai and Vadodara.
