Barcelona is gearing up to sign a new left winger this summer, as it seems increasingly unlikely that Marcus Rashford will be retained on a permanent basis. The club is seeking a low-cost option to compete with Raphinha, and one of the players under consideration by sporting director Deco is Ez Abde.

In the summer of 2023, Abde left Barcelona to join Real Betis. His initial performances in Andalusia were inconsistent, but he has truly excelled during the 2025-26 campaign, recording an impressive 12 goals and 9 assists in 38 appearances across all competitions.

Barcelona has kept tabs on Abde's progress since his departure, especially since they hold a sell-on clause in their agreement with Betis. This clause may allow Barcelona to negotiate a lower transfer fee to bring him back from La Cartuja, although it remains uncertain whether a deal will materialize.

Real Betis is open to letting Abde leave for the right price. However, should Barcelona make an approach, the Morocco international harbors reservations about returning to the Sportify Camp Nou. According to Sport, Abde desires to be a regular starter at his next club, which poses a challenge for Barcelona, as Raphinha is currently their undisputed starter on the left wing.

Whether Barcelona can persuade Abde to make a return remains to be seen. If successful, it could be a thrilling signing, positioning him as an ideal successor to Raphinha, especially if he continues to improve in the coming years.
