The Miami Dolphins are gearing up for a transformative season, and at the center of their revamped offense is De'Von Achane. With significant roster changes, including the departures of Tyreek Hill, Tua Tagovailoa, and Jaylen Waddle, Achane stands out as the only returning player from last season with over 350 receiving yards. After finishing fifth in the NFL with 1,350 rushing yards last year, he is expected to be the focal point of Miami's game plan.

During a recent interview, new head coach Jeff Hafley hinted at a monumental season ahead for Achane, emphasizing his need to be in peak physical condition. Hafley stated, "I just gave Achane a heads-up this morning and I told him, 'You better be in good shape.'" His comments suggest that Achane could see an unprecedented workload, potentially touching the ball 40 to 45 times in a game, a feat achieved by only four players in the last decade.

Achane's previous career high for touches in a game is 29, which he achieved in 2024. If he maintains that average, he could end the season with 493 touches, breaking the long-standing record of 492 set by James Wilder in 1984. Hafley’s offensive philosophy, influenced by his time with the Green Bay Packers, may further elevate Achane's role, especially with new offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik likely to prioritize the run game.

The Dolphins have invested heavily in Achane, securing him with a four-year, $64 million extension. General manager Jon-Eric Sullivan underscored Achane's importance, stating, "He's a building block for us."
