No quarterback in the NFL is playing better football right now than Brock Purdy of the San Francisco 49ers. This season, Purdy and Pro Football Hall of Famer Dan Marino (1984) are the only quarterbacks with 10-plus total touchdowns and no sacks taken through the first three weeks. Purdy leads the NFL in:

• Passer rating: 133.1
• Passing success rate: 63.9%
• Expected points added (EPA) per dropback: 0.62
• Passing touchdowns: 9 (co-leader)

Despite injuries to key teammates, Purdy's performance remains exceptional, making his unscathed status remarkable. The upcoming 49ers vs. Broncos showdown on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. EST features the team with the fewest sacks allowed (San Francisco, 27) against the team with the most sacks (Denver, 76).

Denver's pass rush, led by two-time Pro Bowl edge rusher Nik Bonitto and All-Pro defensive tackle Zach Allen, ranks in the top 10 for pass rush metrics. They are tied for:

• Sacks: 8.0 (7th)
• Quarterback pressure rate: 40.7% (7th)
• Blitz rate: 40.7% (7th)

Purdy is well-prepared for the challenge, leading the NFL with a 14.7 yards per pass attempt average against the blitz this season. His pressure rate under blitz is the lowest in the league at 22.7%.

When blitzed, Purdy has found success with Mike Evans and George Kittle, both catching four of five targets with two touchdowns each. However, Evans' status is uncertain due to a rib injury, placing more focus on Kittle. Talanoa Hufanga, an All-Pro safety for the Broncos, may target Kittle aggressively following his standout performance against the Los Angeles Rams.

This matchup between Kyle Shanahan and Vance Joseph shapes up to be one of the most exciting showdowns in Week 4.
