Less than two years after their Super Bowl victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, the Philadelphia Eagles find themselves in free fall with a dismal 2-5 record in the 2026 season. As the team faces its first losing season under Nick Sirianni, fingers point to several culprits behind this shocking collapse.

1. Howie Roseman
The Eagles' general manager, Howie Roseman, has been pivotal in their past successes but now faces scrutiny for his roster decisions. Despite his Hall of Fame credentials, the current team's inability to overcome injuries reflects poorly on his management. Key missteps include:

• Lack of a succession plan for Lane Johnson
• Failing to pair Saquon Barkley with another capable running back
• Poor handling of the receiver position after trading AJ Brown
Roseman’s approach to replacing Brown has yet to yield results, leaving the team struggling.

2. Nick Sirianni
While Sirianni has maintained team morale, his hiring choices have raised eyebrows. His decision to replace Kellen Moore with Kevin Patullo and then Sean Mannion, both inexperienced, resulted in an underwhelming offense. This choice has been criticized as a significant factor in the team's current struggles.

3. Injuries
Injuries have plagued the Eagles this season, particularly the health of Jalen Hurts. The unexpected retirement of Johnson and Barkley’s hamstring issues have compounded their problems. While injuries are part of the game, the sheer number the Eagles have faced has been overwhelming.

4. Victim of Past Success
The NFL’s parity-driven nature means that teams struggle to maintain success. Following their Super Bowl win, the Eagles lost several key players, which has hindered their ability to compete effectively in free agency. Retaining some stars while losing others has disrupted their roster balance.

5. AJ Brown
The impact of AJ Brown on the Eagles cannot be overstated. His trade to New England has left a significant void in the offense. While the team enjoyed success with him, his absence has been felt profoundly, contributing to the current turmoil.

The Eagles now face a daunting task to reverse their fortunes as they navigate this challenging season.
