The Philadelphia Eagles will look to break a three-game losing streak in Week 6 against the Carolina Panthers, with Tanner McKee stepping in as the starting quarterback in place of Jalen Hurts, who is sidelined due to a superficial blood clot. This marks a significant opportunity for McKee, a fourth-year backup who has previously served as Hurts' primary backup.

With McKee expected to lead the offense at Lincoln Financial Field, he prepares for the most critical role of his NFL career. His experience includes:

• Two previous starts in the NFL
• A total of six appearances
• Time as a third-string quarterback in 2024

Tanner McKee's journey began in high school, where he emerged as a blue-chip recruit at Corona Centennial High School. He was recognized as a Top247 recruit and ranked as the fourth-best quarterback in the Class of 2018, just behind stars like Trevor Lawrence. His commitment to Stanford came after a rigorous recruiting process, and he faced a long road due to a two-year mission in Brazil.

Upon returning, he joined Stanford during a pandemic-affected season, where he quickly rose through the ranks. His standout performances included:

• A 42-28 upset against No. 14 USC
• A remarkable game against Oregon, amassing 230 yards and three touchdowns

After declaring for the 2023 NFL Draft, McKee was selected with the 188th overall pick by the Eagles. Despite serving primarily as a backup, he made a name for himself with a strong performance in the 2024 season, which included:

• Two touchdown passes in his debut
• A solid start against the New York Giants

As McKee leads the Eagles against the Panthers, he faces the pressure of keeping the team competitive in the NFC East, with the potential for consecutive starts depending on Hurts' recovery. The Eagles' future hinges on how McKee performs in this pivotal moment.
