Aymen Hussein has etched his name in Iraqi football history by scoring at the World Cup 2026, just days after enduring a grueling seven-hour interrogation upon his arrival in Chicago. The striker faced scrutiny at O’Hare airport, as reported by an Iraqi sporting official, highlighting the challenges athletes can face off the field.

Upon arrival two weeks ago, the Iraq national team received a warm welcome from fans, waving flags and taking pictures. However, Hussein's experience was marred by the inspection of his phone and prolonged questioning, while the team’s photographer, Talal Salah, was denied entry after a 10-hour hold.

Hussein's journey to the World Cup has been marked by personal tragedy; he lost his father at the age of 12.
