He stated, "I'm very happy about it," as his team seeks to defeat America’s top amateur golfers for the first time in over a decade.

GB&I last claimed victory at Royal Lytham and St Annes in 2015, and the return of their star player Tyler Weaver, who is fit to compete after recovering from an oblique injury, has bolstered their chances. Weaver, the amateur game's world number three, confirmed his readiness for all four sessions, saying, "I believe so, yeah," and added, "I feel really excited and the body feels great."

On the other side, the United States team is dealing with a stomach bug affecting three players, including world number one Preston Stout, who missed Thursday's Walker Cup dinner. US captain Nathan Smith reassured that the players felt better after a day of rest, stating, "They were bouncing around today and they felt better than I think they said they've felt in a while."

As both teams completed their preparations, strong winds were expected to persist throughout the match, which features morning foursomes and afternoon singles on Saturday and Sunday. Robertson noted, "You have to adapt. You have to improvise," highlighting the challenges posed by the conditions.

Robertson expressed excitement about having the champions on the team, stating, "They are the best support, and they are an 11th man."
