Vinícius Júnior expressed frustration over perceived unfair treatment by referees, advocating for greater protection for talented players like himself, Lamine Yamal, and Julián Álvarez. His comments followed a four-game La Liga suspension, announced just hours before Real Madrid's crucial Champions League match against Roma on Wednesday.

The suspension stemmed from a red card incident where Vinícius pulled an opponent's hair and protested the referee's decision. Despite this setback, he remained optimistic after Madrid's thrilling 4-3 comeback win against Roma, acknowledging his current struggles but asserting, "I have no doubt I will regain my best form soon."

Vinícius questioned the severity of his punishment, stating, "I don’t recall any other player receiving a four-match suspension... I didn’t say a single offensive word to the referee that would warrant a four-match ban." He highlighted an imbalance in officiating, noting that he has been fouled 500 times yet received only five red cards.

José Mourinho, Madrid's coach, criticized the timing of the suspension announcement, emphasizing its impact on the team's preparations. He questioned, "Do you think it’s normal... to find out about his four-match suspension just two hours before kickoff?"

Despite not scoring since August, Vinícius remains committed to supporting his team. He stated, "I’m working to get back to my best as soon as possible," and acknowledged his frustrations with substitutions while maintaining a strong relationship with Mourinho.

Due to the suspension, Vinícius will miss upcoming matches against Sevilla, Barcelona, Racing Santander, and Valencia. He concluded, "This is Real Madrid... We needed a match like this to shift the dynamic and turn the season around a bit."
