Denmark’s Michael Valgren clinched victory in the 17th stage of the Giro d’Italia, enhancing his season tally to two wins, the first being at the Tirreno-Adriatico. Valgren's triumph came after an impressive attack from a small group with just a kilometre remaining in the challenging 202km ride from Cassano d’Adda to Andalo.

The stage proved grueling, with competitors facing both extreme heat and sudden downpours. Valgren, riding for EF Education-EasyPost, was part of a breakaway that surged ahead during the final climb of Andalo-Lever. Initially contesting the stage with Einer Rubio, Valgren ultimately broke free to secure the win.

Despite Valgren's victory, Jonas Vingegaard of Jumbo-Visma maintained his overall lead in the general classification, finishing with the peloton and holding a four-minute advantage over Felix Gall.
