Masai Russell and Alison Dos Santos each set world records during an electrifying night at Letzigrund Stadium in Zurich. A sell-out crowd of 25,000 witnessed remarkable performances, aided by ideal weather conditions.

Alison Dos Santos kicked off the record-breaking spree with a stunning 45.80 seconds in the 400m hurdles, surpassing the previous record of 45.94 seconds set by Norway’s Karsten Warholm at the Tokyo Olympics. Dos Santos expressed his excitement, stating, "I have been showing great form throughout the season – that I am fast, I am strong." Warholm finished second, calling the event a “crazy event.”

Following Dos Santos, Masai Russell, the Olympic champion, clocked an impressive 12.09 seconds in the 100m hurdles, breaking the previous record of 12.12 seconds held by Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan. Both athletes walked away with a cheque for $80,000 for their record-breaking achievements.

The excitement continued in the pole vault, where Mondo Duplantis emerged victorious, clearing 6.25m under pressure from Greece’s Emmanouil Karalis, who achieved a personal best of 6.20m. Both athletes attempted a world record height of 6.32m, marking a historic moment in pole vaulting.

Adding to the thrilling atmosphere was Audrey Werro, who recorded the third fastest time ever in the women’s 800m with 1:53.70, closing in on the world record of 1:53.28 set in 1983.

In the men’s 800m, Kenya’s Emmanuel Wanyonyi secured a victory with a world-leading time of 1:41.76, just edging out Algeria’s Djamel Sedjati. Wanyonyi remains hopeful of breaking David Rudisha’s elusive record, stating, "When I see the world records being broken, I know my time will come."
