Padraig Harrington successfully defended his title at the US Senior Open, finishing with a remarkable four-under 66 in the final round, totaling 12 under for the tournament. This victory at Scioto Country Club marks Harrington's third title in the event, as he outperformed Stewart Cink, who finished as runner-up for the second consecutive year with a score of 8-under after a final round of 71.

Harrington's stellar performance included five birdies in six holes, showcasing his dominance throughout the weekend. Cink, despite a strong third round of 64, could not close the gap in the final round.

In his debut at the US Senior Open, Ian Poulter finished fourth with a score of five under, following an impressive final round of 67. However, George McNeill, also a debutant, secured third place at six under, maintaining his lead despite a final round of 71.

Reflecting on his win, Harrington said, "It's different, I've got to say. It feels great, but obviously there wasn't the drama that I know we normally provide down the stretch." He emphasized his focus and strategy, stating, "I had a great week putting. Golf is easier when you putt well."

With this victory, Harrington ties Miller Barber for the most US Senior Open titles in history, achieving three wins in the last five editions. He joins an elite group of golfers, including Gary Player and Allen Doyle, as one of the few to win the tournament back-to-back. Harrington acknowledged the challenge of maintaining success, saying, "There is only a window to win these tournaments."

Retief Goosen, a two-time tournament winner, shared fifth place alongside Jamie Donaldson and Paul Stankowski, all finishing at four under for the weekend.
