Naomi Osaka has called on social media influencers attending the US Open to respect the sport's etiquette following her second-round victory over Katerina Siniakova. This concern arose after her opening match against Anastasia Zakharova, which was marred by distractions from influencers not paying attention to the game.

During her post-match interview, Osaka emphasized the importance of respecting the sport:

I think obviously if you come to a sporting event, you have to respect the sport. I feel like it's common courtesy to read up on the sport, especially the etiquette.

She acknowledged the potential benefits of influencers promoting tennis but insisted on better management of their presence:

Overall, I think there are huge positives. You want people to continue to grow the sport. I just think it has to be in a way that everyone knows the rules and the etiquette.

In her match against Siniakova, Osaka initially dominated, winning the first set 6-2. However, she faced challenges in the second set, where she lost after being broken three times consecutively, ultimately winning 6-2, 5-7, 6-1.

In contrast, Iga Swiatek advanced to the third round with a swift 6-3, 6-2 win over Nadia Podoroska, showcasing her return to form.
