Britain's Harriet Dart faced significant challenges during her second-round match at the US Open, succumbing to Marie Bouzkova with a score of 6-2, 6-2. The match took place amidst sweltering temperatures of around 30°C in New York, contributing to Dart's struggles.

Feeling "under the weather," Dart attempted to manage her condition by using ice towels and cold-air hoses during changeovers. She expressed, "I have been a bit under the weather. It is what it is, sadly," highlighting her discomfort in the heat and her difficulty adapting to the fluctuating temperatures between the outdoor heat and the air-conditioned indoor environment.

Despite her efforts, Dart's performance suffered; she committed eight double faults and only managed to land 45% of her first serves. Bouzkova quickly took control of the match, winning seven games in a row and establishing a double break in the second set, leaving Dart unable to recover.

With this defeat, Fran Jones remains the last British player in either singles draw at Flushing Meadows. Jones is set to face Iva Jovic, the 14th seed from America, later on Thursday.

Dart's exit follows a string of early departures for British players, including Katie Boulter, who lost to Karolina Muchova in just 58 minutes the previous day. In the men's draw, players Jacob Fearnley, Toby Samuel, Cameron Norrie, Arthur Fery, Harry Wendelken, and Jan Choinski also faced early exits.
