Uefa has expelled MFK Karvina, the Czech Cup winners, from next season’s Europa League due to serious involvement in match-fixing activities. The Uefa Appeals Body declared Karvina ineligible for failing to meet admission criteria linked to match manipulation.

Key points include:

• MFK Karvina has been fined 10 million Czech koruna (approximately £354,000) by Uefa.
• The club has chosen not to appeal the decision.
• Karvina had secured a place in the 2025/26 Europa League play-offs through their cup victory.

This ruling has led to a significant reshuffle in European competition spots for teams from the Czech Football Association (FACR):

• Viktoria Plzen will now occupy the Europa League play-off spot initially reserved for Karvina.
• Hradec Kralove will take Plzen's original position in the Europa League second qualifying round.
• Jablonec will enter the Conference League second qualifying round, filling the gap left by Hradec Kralove.

Furthermore, on 16 June, Karvina was expelled from the Czech top division by their national football association. This action follows a disciplinary investigation initiated in March, which involves 47 individuals and teams, including referees and players, facing allegations related to the match-fixing scandal.
