The former heavyweight world champion, aged 37, will face Mariusz Wach, a 46-year-old Pole, this Friday. A victory for Fury could pave the way for a long-anticipated clash with fellow Briton Anthony Joshua, who must first defeat Kristian Prenga in Saudi Arabia a day later.

In a press conference, Fury stated, "Which other world champion on my level would perform in front of 1,500 in Pattaya?" He emphasized that major celebrities like David Beckham would not consider such an event.

This fight will not be broadcast live but will be featured in the third series of the Netflix documentary 'At Home with the Furys'. The long-awaited Fury-Joshua match has been over a decade in the making, with contracts signed for a contest expected later this year, although the venue remains unconfirmed.

Despite Wach's recent struggles, losing seven of his last ten fights, Fury believes he presents a tougher challenge than Joshua's opponent. "Let me tell you, Mariusz Wach would put his fist through Joshua's opponent," Fury remarked, asserting that this fight is solely about him and Wach, disregarding the broader boxing landscape.

Organized on short notice, the event's ticket profits will support a local charity aiding disadvantaged children and students with disabilities.
