Fifa has reportedly informed Donald Trump that the United States will host the 2031 Women’s World Cup, according to Andrew Giuliani, the executive director of the White House’s World Cup Task Force. This announcement comes despite Fifa not yet officially awarding hosting rights, with the only bid submitted being a joint effort from the US, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Jamaica.

The decision regarding the locations for the 2031 and 2035 Women’s World Cups is anticipated to be made at a special congress before the end of the year, where Fifa’s member associations will cast their votes.

Giuliani stated, “I know they’ve already told the president that the U.S. is going to get the World Cup in 2031, and that really should be fantastic.” However, he emphasized a significant condition: the tournament's alignment with the Trump administration's policies regarding transgender athletes.

He remarked:

• “It is important that the Women’s World Cup does not violate the policy of the United States of America in that it is important that women play in the Women’s World Cup and not biological men.”
• “If that policy is in place, then I’m sure that discussions will progress pretty fast on this one.”

The Trump administration has made it a priority to restrict transgender athletes from competing in women’s sports, contrasting with Fifa's current policies, which do not enforce sex testing at competitions but require national federations to validate player eligibility.
