Scottie Scheffler narrowly missed a chance to join Jim Furyk as the only players in PGA Tour history with two sub-60 rounds at the Travelers Championship. On the 18th hole, Scheffler failed to convert a 25-foot birdie putt, settling for a 10-under 60 on the soft TPC River Highlands course, which set an early target atop the leaderboard amidst a day of low scoring.

Scheffler finished the day at 16 under, two shots ahead of Viktor Hovland, with afternoon starters still on the course.

Scheffler, who won the Travelers Championship two years ago, is looking to build on his recent tie for fourth at the US Open and aims for his first victory since The American Express in January.
