Scottie Scheffler held a one-shot lead over Collin Morikawa in the final round of the Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands when a storm interrupted play, leaving Scheffler just five holes shy of victory.

Scheffler, starting the day one shot behind overnight leader Viktor Hovland, aimed for his second PGA Tour title of the season. Hovland, seeking his eighth PGA Tour victory after a 15-month drought, faced challenges right from the start, beginning with a bogey on the first hole after a rough tee shot. Despite a strong initial performance in the tournament, Hovland struggled, finishing with three bogeys and three birdies, dropping to 19 under before play was halted.

Meanwhile, Collin Morikawa surged to tie Scheffler at 20 under, shooting a career-low 61 and claiming the clubhouse lead after making up nine shots on the leaders.

Scheffler, despite a shaky front nine, managed to regain momentum with birdies on the 10th and 13th holes, pulling ahead of Morikawa. Other competitors also showed remarkable performances; Wyndham Clark, the US Open champion, notched six birdies to reach 19 under through 14 holes, while Matt Fitzpatrick climbed to within three shots of Scheffler, recording seven birdies and two bogeys with three holes left to play.

As the storm forced players off the course, tension mounted with the final outcome hanging in the balance.
