Aston Villa prepares for the potential exit of Emiliano Martínez by accelerating a move for Zion Suzuki of Parma. With Juventus reviving their interest in Martínez, who has spent six seasons at Villa, the goalkeeper is increasingly likely to leave during this transfer window.

Villa previously dismissed an offer from Juventus for Martínez but the Italian club is now reconsidering a move for the 33-year-old, who is under contract until 2029. Juventus is also monitoring Ederson from Fenerbahce and Guglielmo Vicario of Tottenham. Meanwhile, Suzuki was set to join Paris Saint-Germain for around €35m (£30m), but PSG pulled out after defeating Villa in the Super Cup.

Villa had targeted Lucas Chevalier last summer as a replacement for Martínez if he left for Manchester United, but Martínez remained, and Chevalier ended up at PSG. Despite Villa's desire for Martínez to stay as their No. 1, uncertainty looms as the club has sold Morgan Rogers, Youri Tielemans, and Lucas Digne this summer, with doubts about retaining Ezri Konsa, who Arsenal is keen on but Villa values at £60m.

To recruit a forward of Premier League quality, Villa acknowledges they may need to facilitate another significant sale, as Martínez is believed to be the club's highest earner.

Zion Suzuki, a 23-year-old goalkeeper who started all four of Japan's World Cup matches, began his career at Urawa Red Diamonds and has been a standout at Parma. Villa is also expected to finalize a £17m deal for Matteo Ruggeri from Atlético Madrid and is pursuing João Palhinha from Bayern Munich following Amadou Onana's injury.

In other transfer news, Ferran Torres has joined Paris Saint-Germain from Barcelona, while Djed Spence has finalized his move from Tottenham to Inter on a five-year deal for around €30m.
