Trabzonspor has decided to reject the "emotional" resignation of head coach Fatih Tekke following a disappointing exit from the Europa League. The Turkish club faced a heavy 4-0 defeat against Ferencvaros in Hungary on Thursday night, culminating in a 5-0 aggregate loss in the play-off tie.

In the wake of this setback, Tekke, who previously guided Trabzonspor to a commendable third-place finish in the league last season, submitted his resignation. However, the club swiftly declined his resignation on Friday morning, attributing his decision to the "intense emotional impact" of their Europa League elimination.

Looking ahead, Trabzonspor is set to participate in the Europa Conference League this season, with the draw for their six opponents scheduled for Friday.

The seven-time Turkish champions have been active in the transfer market this summer, notably signing Mohamed Salah and Fabinho, both Premier League winners. Additionally, Andre Onana has rejoined the club on loan from Manchester United.

Mohamed Salah, 34, made headlines last month by signing for Trabzonspor after mutually parting ways with Liverpool. He is celebrated as the third-highest scorer in Liverpool's history, netting 257 goals in 442 appearances since his arrival from Roma in 2017. Salah has already made an impact at his new club, scoring his first two goals in a 2-1 victory against Istanbul Basaksehir on Saturday.
