Jonas Vingegaard faced a devastating exit from the Tour de France after a severe crash during Stage 15, resulting in a broken collarbone. The incident occurred as Vingegaard negotiated a tight right-hand bend off a roundabout, where his front wheel slid out, causing him to fall and subsequently leading to a chain reaction that involved other riders landing on spectators.

The stage, which was won by Remco Evenepoel of Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe, saw Vingegaard, a two-time winner and a key contender against defending champion Tadej Pogacar, crash and require surgery due to the severity of his injury. Isaac del Toro, Vingegaard's teammate from UAE Team Emirates-XRG, also fell during the incident, landing on a spectator with crutches.

Despite the chaos, Evenepoel managed to secure victory, showcasing his resilience by matching Pogacar's pace on the uncategorised final climb, a significant improvement for him against steep gradients. After the race, Evenepoel expressed his emotional relief, stating:

"I'm trembling with the emotion... I can follow this pace."

The overall standings remain dominated by Pogacar, who retains the yellow jersey with a five-minute lead over Evenepoel. Tom Pidcock of Pinarello-Q36.5 and Quinn Simmons of Lidl-Trek were notable competitors, with Simmons earning the super-combatif award.

Additionally, Paul Seixas of Decathlon-CMA CGM lost his youth classification white jersey after finishing fourth, while Pogacar regained the King of the Mountains jersey. Mads Pedersen maintained the green points jersey, further highlighting the competitive landscape of this year's Tour.
