Heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall has firmly rejected claims suggesting he is leaving the UFC as he continues his recovery from a serious eye injury.

Aspinall has been sidelined since October, when his first title defense ended in a no-contest due to repeated eye pokes from Ciryl Gane, preventing him from continuing the fight. Following this incident, the 33-year-old was diagnosed with a rare eye condition that caused persistent double vision, ultimately requiring surgery.

In June, Aspinall announced his return to full training, eyeing a rematch with Gane, whom he hinted could be faced in September.

However, reports surfaced on social media on Wednesday, alleging that Aspinall had decided to part ways with the UFC, a notion he quickly dismissed. In a post on X, he stated:

"I'm not leaving the UFC. I've never said I have in any interview, and any words that have been taken from others today are simply not true. We are talking with the UFC daily and they will update you guys always."

Gane recently captured the interim heavyweight title by defeating Alex Pereira at the UFC's White House card in June, and he has called for a unification bout with Aspinall.

In his UFC career, Aspinall has competed 10 times, achieving eight wins, one loss, and one no-contest. His only defeat came against Curtis Blaydes, in which he suffered a serious knee injury.
