Tiger Woods is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday for a change of plea hearing related to his car crash in Florida last March. The 15-time major champion was arrested after his Land Rover rolled over in a collision with a pick-up truck towing a trailer, leading to an eight-hour jail stay before his release on bail.

Previously, Woods entered a written plea of not guilty to charges including driving under the influence, property damage, and refusal to submit to testing. A court notice confirms his appearance at Martin County Courthouse on Wednesday morning at 8:30 AM local time, but it remains unclear what plea he will change to or if a plea deal has been reached with prosecutors.

Woods escaped uninjured from the crash, exiting through the passenger door. Despite passing a breathalyzer test for alcohol, the 50-year-old refused a urinary test for drugs. Officers noted he was “sweating profusely” and appeared “lethargic and slow” with “bloodshot and glassy” eyes. He admitted to being distracted by his cell phone and changing the radio just before the accident.

He claimed he had not consumed alcohol but acknowledged taking “a few” prescription medications earlier that morning. During sobriety tests, Woods struggled to follow instructions, leading a deputy to conclude that his faculties were impaired.

Investigators found two white pills identified as hydrocodone, a prescription opioid, in his vehicle. Woods has not participated in the PGA Tour since July 2024 after undergoing emergency surgery for multiple leg injuries from a serious car accident in California in February 2021. He has undergone 20 surgeries on his leg and seven on his back.

In a statement on X, Woods expressed awareness of the seriousness of his situation, stating he is stepping away for treatment to prioritize his health and recovery. This incident marks Woods' second DUI-related arrest, following a 2017 incident where he pleaded guilty to reckless driving.
