The return of the UEFA Conference League marks a historic moment for Inter Club d'Escaldes as they become the first Andorran team to compete in a European competition's league or group phase. Maurizio Pochettino, the club's player, reflects on this lifelong ambition, stating, "For such a small country... it's a dream come true."

On a memorable evening in late August, Inter faced Drita in a tense play-off. After a 2-2 draw in the first leg, the match went to penalties, where Pochettino's decisive kick led to a 3-2 victory, igniting celebrations at Andorra's national stadium.

Founded in 1991, Inter has achieved remarkable success in recent years, winning five league titles in seven seasons, significantly overshadowing the previous dominance of FC Santa Coloma. Ildefons Lima, a legendary figure in Andorran football, emphasized the importance of this qualification, stating it shows that reaching the latter stages of the Conference League is a realistic goal for clubs like Inter.

Under the management of Felip Ortiz, the team has adopted a possession-based style, enhancing their competitiveness. Ortiz remarked, "Being at Barcelona made me brave in my tactics."

Despite the limited attention on Andorran football, Pochettino believes the league is evolving, with increased competition driven by the financial incentives of European play. Inter stands to gain over €3 million from this venture, significantly boosting their budget.

Andorra, with a population of just 90,000, has historically struggled in international football, currently ranking 175th in FIFA. However, recent performances hint at a brighter future. With Inter's success, four Andorran clubs are set to enter European qualifiers next summer.

As Inter prepares to face teams like Mjallby, Red Star Belgrade, and FC Copenhagen, Pochettino asserts their readiness, stating, "We believe in ourselves... we can make things difficult for the bigger opponents." This journey marks a pivotal step in elevating Andorran football on the European stage.
