Olympic long jump champion Tara Davis-Woodhall expressed her gratitude for surviving a serious car crash, stating she feels "lucky and blessed to be alive." The 27-year-old athlete was involved in a head-on collision last week while en route to training, resulting in a severe concussion but no life-threatening injuries.

Davis-Woodhall shared her ordeal on social media, noting that both vehicles were written off despite traveling at approximately 20mph. She stated:

"Luckily I walked away without any major injuries. At this point, I'm working with my team and doctors to get healthy, but I'm not sure if I will be ready to compete at Ultimate Championships next week. More updates to come."

While she has not completely ruled out participating in the upcoming World Athletics Ultimate Championships in Budapest starting on 11 September, she has been unable to train since the accident. This unfortunate timing is particularly challenging for her, as she described being at the peak of her training, feeling faster and stronger than ever.

Davis-Woodhall’s achievements include winning gold in long jump at the 2024 Olympics in Paris and the World Championships in Tokyo the following year. The Ultimate Championships offer a substantial prize of £111,000, bringing together top athletes from the Olympic, world, and Diamond League circuits for a three-day end-of-season event.
