Tadej Pogacar showcased his prowess with a remarkable victory on stage six of the Tour de France, reclaiming the coveted yellow jersey. The stage, featuring a grueling 17-kilometre climb over the Tourmalet, saw Pogacar unleash his attack with just over four kilometres remaining.

Riding for UAE Team Emirates-XRG, Pogacar surged ahead of his main rival, Jonas Vingegaard, and extended his lead during the descent, finishing the stage two minutes and 38 seconds ahead of him. This victory marked the 17th occasion that Pogacar and Vingegaard have occupied the top two spots in a Tour stage, with Pogacar regaining the yellow jersey from Torstein Traeen, who had hoped to maintain his lead into the second week.

Traeen, who began the day with a seven-minute and 53-second advantage, struggled on the Tourmalet and was distanced less than halfway up the climb. A crash during the descent further complicated his efforts.

Midway through the climb, a confident Pogacar communicated to his team, "I’m good guys, I’m good," signaling his intent to dominate.

In a post-race interview, Pogacar expressed his excitement, stating, "I woke up at seven o’clock this morning and already my mind was going crazy, I was really, really excited for today." He emphasized the teamwork that led to their success, ranking this victory among the top five of his 23 career Tour stage wins.

Vingegaard, racing for Visma-Lease a Bike, admitted it was a challenging day, stating, "It was very tough today, not the day I wanted but that’s how it is sometimes." Despite the setback, he remains optimistic about his chances for the remainder of the race.

In the overall standings, Pogacar leads, with his teammate Isaac del Toro in third, three minutes and 27 seconds behind, while Remco Evenepoel follows closely in fourth.
