Richarlison has voiced his frustration over being excluded from Tottenham Hotspur's squad for the Carabao Cup match against Liverpool on Tuesday. In a social media post, the Brazilian striker shared a screenshot regarding his omission, captioning it with "Why?" alongside a tearful emoji, highlighting his disappointment.

This incident adds to the uncertainty surrounding Richarlison's future in north London, especially after a proposed transfer to Vasco da Gama fell through last week. While reports indicated that Spurs had reached a fee agreement with Vasco, personal terms could not be finalized before the Brazilian transfer window closed.

Roberto de Zerbi, Tottenham's manager, commented on the situation, stating:

At the start of this season, I spoke to him many times to convince him to stay and he didn't want to. What I have done at the beginning of this season has been to speak with him and to propose an extension of the contract. If he said, 'no thank you,' I finished my job.

Richarlison's troubles continued as a £35m transfer to Everton also collapsed due to personal terms disagreements. Currently, he is exploring options to be released from his contract, which runs until next summer, although Spurs hold a 12-month extension option.

This turmoil occurs as Spurs seek their first win of the Premier League season under De Zerbi, having failed to score in their opening four matches—a first in the club's history. Despite spending over £300m to enhance the squad after two disappointing 17th-place finishes, the team struggles.

Last season, Richarlison was Spurs' top scorer with 12 goals across all competitions. He has also netted four goals in seven matches against Liverpool since joining Tottenham from Everton in 2022.
