SEN announced plans to rebrand the struggling franchise, with CEO Craig Hutchison stating, "We see ourselves as positive disruptors in netball." Just days before this announcement, SEN lodged a trademark application for “Sydney Sirens”, currently under review by IP Australia. However, there is no assurance that the new team will ultimately adopt this name.

The Sydney Sirens Ice Hockey Team, established in 2005, emphasizes their 20-plus year history and is now exploring legal options. Team manager Natalie Caruso expressed concerns regarding the potential confusion between the two teams sharing the same name, especially as the ice hockey team operates without major sponsorship.
