Scott McTominay is set to miss Scotland’s upcoming international fixtures as he undergoes surgery for a minor heart issue. The midfielder is expected to have a short absence due to “a mild benign arrhythmia,” as confirmed by Napoli on Tuesday. This corrective measure addresses his abnormal or irregular heart rhythm.

The heart condition is classified as non-serious and poses no significant risk to his overall health; however, it will sideline McTominay for a few weeks.

Scotland begins a new chapter under manager Sebastien Pocognoli with four Nations League fixtures scheduled against:

• Slovenia (twice)
• Switzerland
• North Macedonia
  These matches are part of an extended international window that begins in September.

McTominay has started both of Napoli’s Serie A matches this season, although he was substituted after 56 minutes in a 2-1 home defeat against Como last weekend. He will also miss their Champions League opener against Arsenal next week.
