Falkirk goalkeeper Scott Bain delivered an outstanding performance that might just have caught the eye of new Scotland head coach Sebastien Pocognoli. With eight saves, several of which were exceptional, Bain showcased his skills during the 1-1 draw against Dundee United on Saturday, a match where his efforts were crucial to preventing a loss for his team.

With the recent retirement of Craig Gordon and limited first-team minutes for other goalkeepers like Angus Gunn and Liam Kelly, Bain emerges as a strong contender for a call-up to the national squad. His manager, John McGlynn, praised Bain, stating, "If you're looking for a goalkeeper who can play from the back and still make saves... then I think Scott ticks all the boxes."

Bain thwarted numerous attempts from Dundee United players, including:

• Kevin Ciubotaru's shot destined for the bottom corner
• Lyall Cameron's close-range effort
• Zidane Iqbal's attempt towards the top corner
• Neil Farrugia's strike

Despite his heroic display, Falkirk missed out on a victory due to a last-minute equalizer from Michael Forbes. Bain has now played 44 games for Falkirk, achieving 10 clean sheets, and previously kept the ball out of the net in half of his 78 games for Celtic.

His international experience includes four caps since his debut in June 2018 against Mexico, with his last appearance being in March against Ivory Coast. Given his current form, Bain is well-positioned to hope for a renewed chance to represent Scotland under Pocognoli's new regime.
