James Penrice has earned his first call-up to the Scotland national team as they gear up for a pivotal Nations League double-header against North Macedonia and Switzerland. The Rangers defender joins the squad following an impressive loan stint from AEK Athens, stepping in for the injured Josh Doig.

Additionally, Scott McTominay makes his return after recovering from minor heart surgery, having played a vital role for Napoli with four goals in the last seven matches. Che Adams, the Torino striker, also re-enters the squad after overcoming a thigh strain that sidelined him during Sebastien Pocognoli's first selection.

Kieran Tierney from Celtic is back, while Scott McKenna of Dinamo Zagreb is out due to injury. Colby Donovan from Celtic misses out as Pocognoli trims the squad from 28 to 26 players.

A significant milestone looms for Andy Robertson, who can achieve his 103rd cap, surpassing Sir Kenny Dalglish as Scotland's most capped player if he plays in both matches.

To maintain hopes of promotion from League B1, Scotland needs at least four points from their upcoming games. They also rely on Slovenia to drop points against both North Macedonia and Switzerland to keep promotion play-off aspirations alive. A loss in their first match at Hampden Park could even lead to relegation to League C.
