Salford City has officially parted ways with manager Karl Robinson following their disappointing 3-0 defeat to Notts County in the League Two play-off final at Wembley. This decision comes just nine days after the loss, marking a significant shift for the club.

Robinson, who had been at the helm for nearly two and a half years, was one of the longest-serving managers in the club's history, sharing this distinction with Graham Alexander. Under a new ownership structure that retained only Gary Neville and David Beckham from the original 'Class of 92' investors, Salford began the season with high expectations for promotion.

The club released a statement confirming Robinson's departure, stating:

This decision has been reached unanimously by the club's board and executive team following a thorough review of the football operation. Karl has conducted himself throughout his time at Salford City with professionalism and integrity.

Despite a promising start, Salford's aspirations for automatic promotion were hindered by a dismal run of five defeats in six games during January and February. They ultimately missed out on a direct promotion spot on the final day, failing to secure a victory against third-bottom Crawley.

After the play-off final, Robinson expressed his regret to supporters, acknowledging that his team had "let them down." The club is now focused on finding a replacement, with the future of Robinson's assistant Alex Bruce and the coaching staff still uncertain.
