Ryu Hae Ran achieved a remarkable feat by winning her first career major title at the Women's PGA Championship, held at Hazeltine National Golf Club. Overcoming a challenging start, Ryu finished strong with a 2-under 70, concluding the tournament at 13-under 275, and securing a two-stroke victory over Ina Yoon.

This victory marks Ryu as the sixth South Korean to win the event in the last twelve editions. Her emotional celebration was highlighted by a big smile as friends rushed to congratulate her after her final putt.

Significantly, Ryu became the first major champion in over sixty years to recover from a deficit of ten or more shots after the first round. She began the tournament with a 73, placing her in a tie for 70th, while Yoon set a tournament record with a stunning 63.

After a six-week break from competition, Ryu relied on her coach's advice to regain her focus. "You don’t have another problem so just trust your shot and trust your caddie and trust yourself on the golf course," she stated during the trophy presentation.

Brooke Henderson and Dewi Weber finished tied for third at 10 under, while three Americans — Allisen Corpuz, Auston Kim, and Alison Lee — shared fifth place, six strokes behind Ryu.

Yoon praised Ryu's performance, saying, "Haeran played unbelievable today." Meanwhile, Nelly Korda, the LPGA Tour leader, ended her weekend with a 73, tying for eighth place and missing the chance to become the third player to win the first three majors of the season.
