Matteo Ruggeri’s agent has put an end to rumors regarding his future at Atlético de Madrid, confirming that the 24-year-old Italian left-back will remain in the Spanish capital this summer. Tullio Tinti, his agent, stated via Sky Sport Italy that despite interest from Roma and Fiorentina, Ruggeri is not available for transfer.

For weeks, Spanish media speculated that Atlético’s director of football, Mateu Alemany, aimed to sell Ruggeri to generate funds for new signings. However, Tinti clarified that while inquiries were made, Ruggeri's commitment to the club is unwavering. He emphasized that Ruggeri had an “extraordinary” season, although that assessment contrasts with other analyses noting his inconsistency.

Ruggeri, who joined Atlético from Atalanta last July for under €20 million on a contract running until 2030, initially struggled but found form in January, providing seven assists in a critical stretch. His contributions were vital in Los Colchoneros’ Champions League quarterfinal upset against FC Barcelona. However, his performance in the Copa del Rey final, where Atlético lost to Real Sociedad on penalties, highlighted his inconsistency.

The departure of fellow left-back Julio Díaz to Sevilla has made Ruggeri's position more secure, offering him a clear role as backup behind new first-choice Álex Grimaldo. This shift alleviates some of the squad's congestion and allows Ruggeri to continue developing within the team.
