Ruben Amorim has publicly apologized to Manchester United fans for not addressing them since his dismissal in January, expressing pride in his time as their coach. The 41-year-old had remained silent about his 14-month tenure at Old Trafford but has now signed a three-year contract with AC Milan, marking his return to management.

During his unveiling on Wednesday, Amorim faced questions about his time at United only towards the end of a 35-minute media conference. He acknowledged that he made mistakes during his stint and emphasized his desire to succeed based on the lessons learned from that experience.

In his own words, Amorim stated:

It is hard to explain the mistakes as I would have to explain all the context of the last adventure. I am sorry for not acknowledging the Manchester United fans at the moment, but I am really proud to have been their coach for a year.

He recognized the need for growth, saying, "You need to learn to reach a different level. Everyone learns from their experience. I will try to change, but there are some things you never change. I think I will be better. That is all."

Interestingly, AC Milan is set to face Manchester United in their final pre-season match on August 15 in Poland. At the press briefing, Amorim also addressed his linguistic challenges, apologizing for not yet speaking Italian fluently.

One of Amorim's key tasks at Milan includes persuading Luka Modric to extend his stay at the club. He conveyed the importance of Modric's experience and expressed determination to keep the veteran midfielder. "If I need to, I will go and get the guy," Amorim stated, emphasizing Modric’s crucial role in the team's strategy moving forward.
