Ruben Amorim has officially agreed to become AC Milan's next head coach, stepping into the role after Massimiliano Allegri was sacked due to a disappointing season that saw the club miss out on Champions League qualification.

While a formal contract isn't signed yet, the 41-year-old coach is expected to arrive in Milan later this week to finalize a two-year deal. Amorim is notably willing to waive the final year of his salary from Manchester United, where he was dismissed earlier this year following a challenging 14-month tenure.

• Manchester United indicated that Amorim's exit could cost the club up to £15.9 million.
• His successful past at Sporting saw him end a 19-year title drought by winning the league in 2020-21 and again in 2023-24.

Amorim took over at Old Trafford in November 2024, replacing Erik ten Hag. His recent decisions distanced him from the vacancy at Benfica, with Marco Silva now appointed.
